Freeing the Window Floor: KINTO PLANT POT 201

Read the two-part pot, adjustable hanger and 3kg stated limit through watering and leaf movement

Lift a pot away from the floor or shelf and the plant begins to reveal the undersides of its leaves. KINTO’s PLANT POT 201_174mm suspends a rounded pot from a slim stainless-steel hanger. More than a way to gain another surface, it asks where foliage will fall, where water can drain, and how much weight the support must carry.

Begin with the support, not the empty space

The pot measures 174mm across and 118mm high, and weighs about 410g before planting. The hanger adjusts from 520 to 1,200mm, while the stated load limit is 3kg. That figure does not certify a ceiling, curtain rail, shelf or hook. Weigh the plant, wet growing medium and retained water together, then confirm that the building-side fixing suits its material and installation.

Avoid positions above a walking route or where a door will brush the leaves. Near a window, include the distance from the glass, the movement of curtains and the path of heating or cooling air. Raising a plant frees the floor; it does not automatically provide the right light or temperature.

Separate the two pots and let water pass through

PLANT POT 201 consists of a perforated inner pot and an outer cover. The inner pot can be removed and taken to a sink or another draining area, allowing water to move through the full volume of growing medium before the pot is returned. This makes drainage easier to observe than repeatedly adding small amounts while the plant remains overhead.

The outer cover catches drainage. Water left standing there can obscure what is happening around the roots. Do not set watering by weekday alone; check the plant, the dryness of the medium, leaf condition, room temperature and available light. The removable inner pot is most useful when it makes that inspection easier.

Look beneath trailing foliage

A hanging plant shows more than the top of each leaf. The point where a stem crosses the rim and the arrangement of leaf undersides become visible. If growth leans in one direction, compare the window side with the room side. Rotate only with the plant’s own response to a change in light in mind.

The fine wires make the pot appear light, but they are also points to inspect. Check that expanding stems and petioles are not being pressed or trapped. Repeat the check as new leaves move, not only on the day of installation.

Measure beyond the 174mm rim

KINTO lists polypropylene as the main pot material, with wheat fibre in the beige version. A light, shatter-resistant material suits a hanging form, but diameter alone does not determine plant fit. Consider the existing root ball, the weight of the filled pot, the spread of the leaves and the next period of growth.

At 174mm, the pot has enough presence to make a single window plant visible. A pot that is too large for a small root system, however, changes the way the medium dries. Do not disturb roots simply to fill the container. Potting season and medium differ by species, so return to guidance for the identified plant and its growth stage.

Rehearse one watering before buying

Measure the intended height and check whether both hands can remove the inner pot. Trace a safe route for carrying a wet pot to a draining area. Note where the leaves will end with the hanger at its shortest and longest settings. A hanging pot is judged less by the first photograph than by every watering that follows.

The retailer displayed beige and black versions, a price of ¥3,300, domestic delivery and an active basket when checked. One patch of floor becomes free. In exchange, decisions about water and weight move to eye level. PLANT POT 201 is best understood not simply as a way to lift a plant, but as a vessel that brings leaves, roots, medium and support into the same line of attention.
