Instead of moving every pot to the window, the light can move towards the pot. Heian Shindo’s DRAW A LINE and grow-light brand BARREL launched a Grow Light series on 14 September 2026, combining lighting and trays with a single tension rod. The three new pieces are a Socket for fixtures, a Tray Light positioned above a pot, and a Socket Shade that covers a lamp.
Three pieces perform different jobs
Socket Black D-SO-BK costs ¥9,900 including tax. It attaches to a compatible DRAW A LINE Tension Rod and pivots vertically and horizontally. Its E26 base accepts bulbs or covered circulators weighing no more than 0.9kg and rated at no more than 100W.
Tray Light Black D-TL-BK costs ¥24,200 including tax. It combines a circular tray with a full-spectrum LED and holds a pot of about 15cm diameter. The tray is rated for approximately 2kg. Dimming, colour tone and a timer can be set through a smartphone app over Bluetooth.
Socket Shade Black D-SS-BK costs ¥4,950 including tax. Designed only for D-SO-BK, it covers the outside of a bulb and narrows the spread of light. It is made for bulbs no wider than 120mm.
Pot and light share one line
The official combinations come in three forms. The vertical ‘Light and Air’ set starts at ¥25,480 including tax, while the horizontal version starts at ¥29,880. Lights or circulators attach to a rod running between floor and ceiling or horizontally along a wall.
The photographed Plant-Growing Stage starts at ¥39,380 including tax. It combines a Tension Rod C, Table A and Tray Light while occupying a circular floor footprint of about 7cm. A second Tray Light can be added to arrange two pots at different heights.
Some light measurements are not published
The announcement and product pages reviewed describe the Tray Light as a full-spectrum LED and list its controls. They do not publish PPFD, a measurement distance or species-specific lighting distances. The available material therefore cannot compare the amount of photosynthetically useful light reaching a pot.
The brand presents the system as a way to grow plants away from sunny rooms, but that does not mean one setting suits every species. Required intensity and photoperiod vary with the plant, its growth stage and the distance between lamp and leaves. App controls do not determine suitable growing conditions automatically.
Measure before installation
The Socket is for indoor use on compatible DRAW A LINE Tension Rods. Check the strength of the wall or ceiling, the rod’s installation range and the combined load in the instructions. The product can remain hot during and immediately after use, and the manual requires a bulb to be kept at least 20cm from the illuminated object.
A pot on the Tray Light must stay within the approximate 2kg limit after soil and water are included. For a bulb in the Socket, match its weight, wattage, diameter, heat and Shade compatibility separately. A circulator must have a protective cover.
The series does not change what a plant needs; it changes where a pot and light source can meet in a room. Measure the filled pot and the place for the rod first, then check the chosen fixture’s figures and instructions. The single black line becomes a compact growing place built in that order.
